The seat outside the church at the start of Church Walk is often an area where people sit and chat, walkers often stop off there to have their lunch, people gather there at church weddings for a view of the bride - a much used area, but one that has needed something to make it a little more positive and ‘welcoming'. To this end, Cynthia and John Gent from Clerk's Croft kindly donated two new planters - these have been placed either side of the seat and children from St Catherine's school came to help fill them with fuchsias and salvias. The paving slabs by the seat have been leveled and repaired by Ed Muller, and John Gent has also repaired the rubbish bin which had been in a derelict state for more than a decade - so it is hoped there is no excuse now for dropping rubbish around the seat.
Funds to buy the plants came from Bletchingley in Bloom but the project was a true community project to enhance the centre of this village and enable residents and visitors to enjoy the area, admire the flowers and absorb the history that surrounds them.
