Bletchingley Players

Bletchingley Players have been entertaining local audiences for around 50 years.  Members are from all walks of life and we enjoy the satisfaction of staging great productions twice a year at the Village Hall.

Our society, and our productions, are maybe less formal than many others.  We seat our audience at tables and provide a fish and chip supper during the interval; there is also a bar where they can purchase wine, beer and soft drinks.

Although there is a committee, we are fortunate that members of the society help out with a number of activities throughout the year, such as the stall we have at the annual Village Fête, and various tasks associated around staging a production.

We have our own rehearsal and storage facilities in Grange Meadow – again, members help out with the maintenance and upkeep. The Drama Hut, as it is known, is also where we hold a number of social evenings.

Past productions have included such well-known plays as When We Are Married, The Importance of Being Earnest, Hayfever, Blithe Spirit and, in more recent years, Pygmalion, On Golden Pond, Steel Magnolias, An Inspector Calls and the British amateur premier of The Graduate.

We welcome new members in whatever capacity:  acting, directing, stage management, construction and design, lighting and sound, costumes, props – and prompting!   Or just getting involved socially and helping out front of house at the productions.
