Bletchingley In Bloom Update – July Update

Saturday’s final work party before judging day began early and finished late.  All the eight projects, plus several more, were accomplished and the team felt that they had covered all areas of Bletchingley and achieved as much as possible with a group of only about a dozen, compared with neighbouring villages where there are 40 or more.  A last-minute litter-pick was scheduled to take place on Wednesday.  Many residents have prettified their frontages recently and more promised to do so in the next few days; sadly sometimes the lateness was caused by fear that pots and baskets might be stolen, as happened last year before the judges saw them.

The judges will tour on Friday 9th July.  Afterwards everyone is welcome to the photo exhibition from 2pm to 5 in the village hall, where free tea and cakes will be served.  The group are hoping that more people will join them and ask that anyone who is considering helping next year should talk to any of them on 9th July or use the contact details below.  Without greater participation it might not be possible to continue, not only with the competition but with the proper maintenance of the improvements already made.
