VE Day 75th Anniversary – Stay at Home Street Party

How will you celebrate VE day?

The government has announced revised plans to commemorate the 75th anniversary of VE Day and give thanks to the Second World War generation from the safety of their own homes. A new website, which gives more information about how you can get involved is also available.

Why not consider one of the following on 8 May:

  • Decorate your home in red, white and blue, display Great British Bunting in your windows and throw your own stay at home street party.
  • Join the Royal British Legion’s two minute silence at 11am.
  • Take part in the VE Day Nation’s toast to the heroes of World War Two at 3pm by raising a glass of a refreshment of your choice to toast to those who gave so much, we thank you.
  • Join the UK wide rendition of Dame Vera Lynn’s classic We’ll meet again from your doorstep, after the Queen’s 9pm address to the nation.
