Volunteers needed for supporting those that have to go into self-isolation in the village due to COVID-19

19th March 2020

Dear Bletchingley Parishioners,

As of the 16th of March, the government announced a series of measures designed to reduce the spread of COVID-19. They have recommended that those with the most serious health conditions go into self-isolation from social contact for around 12 weeks.

The Parish Council is collating a list of volunteers in the village willing to assist those who either need to reduce social contact or isolate themselves.  The intention is to provide the following services over the next three months:

  • Picking up or delivering shopping
  • supporting community meal providers
  • Checking in with people over the phone and/or being a telephone buddy
  • Picking up urgent supplies / prescriptions
  • All volunteers will be registered with the Parish Council.

We are looking for local villagers prepared to help us in this task. Please email Sally-anne Ray on should you feel you are able to help.

It would also be helpful to state which of the above activities you are willing and able to support,  whether you hold a current driving licence, your address, if you have access to a car and over the next 3 months, what days/times are you available.

Any information you supply to us, will be kept in confidence and not used for any other purpose other than contacting you to support us in this task.

Best Regards

Sallyanne Ray (Chair of Bletchingley Parish Council)
