Cricket is coming back to Bletchingley

After a mild winter with some steady, behind-the-scenes work by a handful of village stalwarts, the Bletchingley Cricket wicket is just about ready to be used. The pitch has been weeded and seeded, cut blown and dried, thanks to some peppercorn funding from the Bletchingley Village Fair Committee and is looking good.

Although the A25 is a little too close to the boundary for the Senior men’s game, the English Cricket Board and Surrey Cricket have both expressed interest in the use of the pitch for Juniors and Ladies. There is a one-day competition, sponsored by Surrey Cricket, planned for late summer, and in the meantime peope driving past should not be surprised to see the local schools playing during the week.
