Bletchingley Parish Council looking for a part time Clerk

Bletchingley Parish Council seeks a highly motivated, enthusiastic community minded person to take on the role of Clerk to the Council.

This is a part-time permanent post and the post holder will work approximately 60 hours a month. This will involve 3 days x 4.5 hours per week (days and times negotiable). The clerk is also expected to attend the monthly Parish Council meeting and Planning Committee meetings (the second and last Monday of the Month held in the evenings 7:30 to 10pm and 7:30 to 8:30pm respectively) and other ad hoc meetings as may be required during the year.

Duties include: acting as advisor to the council, minute taking, compilation of correspondence, liaising with the District and County Councils, filing, being responsible for the Parish Council accounts and financial records, update the Councils register of Burials and maintain the councils assets and a willingness to undertake training in all aspects of local government administration.

The post holder must be able to work on their own initiative and be a well organized, numerate and self-motivated person. Financial and administrative experience is important as is the ability to demonstrate enthusiasm for working with residents, councillors and other local organizations.

Previous local government experience is desirable, but is not necessary as training will be given, however it is important that the postholder has or is able to gain CILCA certification within 12-18 months.
