The Hawthorns receives 240 trees from the woodland trust

This month The Hawthorns School in Bletchingley took delivery of 240 trees from the Woodland Trust. The trees were sent to the school as part of the Trust’s “Free Trees for Schools” scheme which hopes to increase the planting of native trees in the UK.

Children from the Hawthorns Ark Nursery through to the oldest pupils in Year 8 have spent time planting the many trees received which included the following species – Hawthorn, Blackthorn, Silver Birch, Oak, Rowan and Hazel.

The trees have been planted in the front of the school with the hope that their presence will encourage more wildlife to come and visit.
