Blechingley Conservation & Historical Society meeting

The January meeting will be on Thursday 9th January at 8pm in the Village Hall. Liz Bonsall, from the Bourne Society and Chaldon History Group, will take us on an illustrated historical journey through the 19th and 20th Century Merstham using picture postcard images of the time.

Our February meeting will be on “Fuelling the War – Bletchingley’s Secret Pipeline” on Thursday 13th February at 8pm. Tim Whittle will be giving an illustrated talk about the history of this vast network of storage depots and pipelines started in 1943 and constructed to help fight the 2nd world war and which was used to carry fuel all the way from Mersyside through Bletchingley to France, Belgium and the Netherlands.
