Old or Unwanted Car Disposal Service

Residents with an unwanted or old car can take advantage of a special disposal service provided by Tandridge District Council.

To have a vehicle removed under the scheme, you must be a district council resident and the legal owner. Your name and address must be on the vehicle’s V5 (registration document). The service costs £35.

The scheme has been running for a number of years and aims to prevent cars being abandoned in the district. Hundreds of old bangers are removed each year.

All the vehicles removed are taken to an approved vehicle dismantlers, where they are de-polluted and recycled, or are used by Surrey Fire Brigade for training purposes and then scrapped. Full details of all removed and scrapped vehicles are passed to the DVLA and the Police.

Chairman of Community Services, Councillor Glynis Whittle, said: “This scheme has been very successful and has stopped many old and unwanted cars being dumped in the area.”
