Bletchingley’s Got Talent

This was the view expressed at the end of the evening of entertainment in words and music in St Mary’s Church last Saturday evening.   The church was packed as children of all ages entertained parents and friends to a variety of musical events, recitations and mime.  Bletchingley Brownies and children from St Catherine’s school provided the hit parade for ‘76 Trombones’, there were choirs from both St Catherine’s school and the Hawthorn’s school, the Hawthorn’s Swing Band and St Mary’s ‘Quick Look Busy’ ensemble got everyone foot tapping and arm waving to popular hits, the Handbell Players entertained with a summer medley and St Mary’s Singers added a summer touch with ‘Summertime’ and ‘In An English Country Garden’.   There were also individual performances from young soloists on cello, violin, piano, saxophone, and guitar as well as individual recitations.   Congratulations to all those who took art.    The evening finished with a short singalong for both audience and performers.

In all, there was something for everyone and performers and audience alike thoroughly enjoyed the evening.   The event was organized by Janine Marks to raise money for the Church House Restoration Appeal.
