Police Appeal for Information after Horse Attack in Godstone

Tandridge rural affairs officer, PC Nick Shrapel, is appealing for information after a horse received burn injuries in Godstone on Sunday.

The incident happened sometime between 1.30am and 9am on 1 June when a horse received, what appear to be several cigarette burns, around its right eye.

PC Shrapel said: “I am appealing to members of the Godstone community to come forward with any information or clues which will help us identify those responsible for this incident. Due to the time of day it occurred we do not have a description of the suspect, or indeed suspects, but I believe someone out there has the vital information we need in order to arrest and bring those responsible to justice.”

Detectives from Reigate CID are investigation the offence and officers from the Tandridge Safer Neighbourhood Team have been in the area speaking to residents providing a visible police presence.

Tandridge Neighbourhood Inspector Elaine Burtenshaw said: “I would appeal to the rural Tandridge community to be vigilant and alert my local officers to any suspicious behaviour or activity around fields. Fortunately incidents like this are extremely rare and do not occur very often. The Tandridge Safer Neighbourhood Team is working hard to ensure this does not happen again.”
