Red Oak Cafe – invites families with children under 5

Sure Start – launches the Red Oak Cafe: Wednesday’s on 24th and 31st of March and 7th and 14th of April.

Families with children under five to have access to a “Drop in” service and advice centre at Bletchingley.

This is a 4 week pilot project to provide a family-friendly space in Bletchingley where parents can meet together for a drink and chat, and children can play. During the pilot, they will be consulting with families about their local needs with a view to developing a long-term delivery plan for the area (from the new Church House). For now they will be using the sports and social club on Grange Meadow as a base and inviting some professionals/services to join them as a way to ‘draw people in’ and to provide a genuinely useful service from the outset.

It will be open on a Wednesday morning (9am – 12pm) from 24th March and will run for 4 weeks (the last date is 14th April).

The aims of the cafe are:-

  • To consult the families of Bletchingley about permanent delivery to the area
  • Become known as the Children’s Centre for Bletchingley
  • Provide a useful and accessible family service
  • Strengthen/forge links with other service providers
  • Create a meeting point for parents and families
